Whiskey Wednesday: Drinks You're Bound to Love
Yes, whiskey drinks may cost a little more when you're out at night, but you get what you pay for [or what my boyfriend usually gets stuck paying for... oops!] What can I say, he dates someone with good taste!
The past few years I have steered clear of the fruity, sugary mixed drinks and have been going for the good ol' crown and coke. Last weekend a girlfriend and I curated our own drinks using whiskey; surely sweet but also smooth! Check em out:
Lemon and Mint Whiskey Smash
Looking for a sweet but fresh drink?! Look no more.
What you'll need:
Half a lemon, quartered (4 slices)
3 tablespoons of mint (6-7 mint leaves)
2 ounces of whiskey (I preferred Crown)
What you'll need:
Half a lemon, quartered (4 slices)
3 tablespoons of mint (6-7 mint leaves)
2 ounces of whiskey (I preferred Crown)
1 tbsp of sugar
Crushed ice
Crushed ice
Shaker
Place the 4 slices of lemon, mint leaves, and sugar in your drink shaker. Muddle together until the lemon and sugar have created a juice, and the mint leaves are separated. (Using a wooden spoon is sufficient in place of a muddler!)
Add the whiskey, cover your shaker, and shake for about 20 seconds or so. Pour your mixture into your glass, and top with crushed ice! Garnish with mint if you wish!
Voila! You just mixed a super delicious and quick drink that you didn't have to pay $8 a pop for!
Rumball: RumChata and Fireball
What you'll need:
1.5 ounces of Fireball whiskey
1.5 ounces of RumChata
Cubed or crushed ice
Cocktail shaker
Cinnamon
Cinnamon stick to garnish (optional)
1.5 ounces of RumChata
Cubed or crushed ice
Cocktail shaker
Cinnamon
Cinnamon stick to garnish (optional)
Measure out both the Fireball and RumChata, and pour into your shaker. You can also include crushed ice into the mix or not, your call! Shake the contents for a little bit, and pour into your glass. Make sure to top either your cubed or crushed ice over your drink! Garnish with cinnamon and your cinnamon stick (if desired).
This drink turned out to be fantastic! It was decided though that this drink would be best served during the holidays, complete with a candy cane as your stirrer! Note: This drink was pretty sweet, so take it slow! It can be deceiving. :)
It was fun to create these type of drinks and enjoy them from time to time! Are there any amazing libations you've discovered (or created!) that you'd like to share!? Share away!
